Northern Saw-whet Owls

Geoff Holroyd co-founded the Beaver Hills Observatory (BHO) in 1984 after he moved to Edmonton. He helped to build BHO into the strong institution it has become. BHO gathers data on the Saw-whet to help with conservation. Geoff gave a great talk for ERVCC about these small owls. To watch his talk, visit our NONS page. My only disappointment in Geoff’s talk is that he did not imitate a saw-whet call so I’ve included one below. They sound just like a truck backing. Maybe you have heard one in the valley and thought it was a household alarm or other electronic device.
